In this year’s upcoming flower show, A Fantasy, there are six floral design classes. Please review the schedule for specifics on those classes. It is time to sign up now for any class you would like to enter! Members of other clubs are allowed to enter after March 1st!
By the time our 2023 flower show, A Fantasy, will take place in September of this year, it will have been five years since our club was able to host a show, many thanks to Covid.
We surely hope so! That would be Fantastica! And Fantastica is the name of our next SLGC-sponsored GCA Flower Show, which will take place September 8-10, 2023,
A huge thank you to our superb flower show Committee! Your time, ideas and energy made Cornucopia the success it was. We had people of many different ages and walks of life enjoy the show. Three intrepid members of SLGC, Suzy Hartford, Margaret Ransohoff, and Karen Colini, entered the Horticulture division, and Leslie Marting entered Botanical Arts division of the Cleveland Garden Club Flower Show this week, and just about every entry won a ribbon. Karen Colini won the prestigious GCA Rosie Jones Horticulture Award for her stunning and unusual dahlia. What will you bring to our fall flower show, Cornucopia?
This is your opportunity to show off all your beautiful fall plants! Our schedule is here. Entries can be just about any fall blooming perennial, annuals that are still blooming, ornamental grasses and ferns, cut branches- deciduous or evergreen and so many others.

From the looks of it, many of us missed the trip of a lifetime. Ten intrepid and energetic members of SLGC journeyed to Philadelphia to attend this year’s Flower Show, along with side trips to Longwood and Winterthur.
In May, at the Shaker Lakes Garden Club flower show, Cynthia won the prestigious Catherine Beattie Medal for a black (deepest purple) Paphiopedilum Orchid. The award is named in honor of Mrs. Samuel Beattie, a member of Carolina Foothills Garden Club and former President of GCA. It is intended to stimulate participation in and improve the quality of entries in GCA Flower Shows.
