Visiting Gardens
Our club’s Visiting Gardens Committee operates at two levels. First, it keeps us abreast of major trips offered to all members of GCA clubs through the GCA. This information is available on the GCA website. At our club level, the committee designs opportunities for club members and their guests to visit local gardens both private and commercial, to view their plants and designs. On occasion, our club’s committee designs an “out of town” tour of 2-7 days as well.
On July 6, 2018, fifteen members of our GCA sister club, the Garden Club of Allegheny County, located in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, joined us for a tour of four beautiful and uniquely different gardens hosted by Ruth Eppig, Robin Schachat, Meg Furey and Margaret Ransohoff. Twenty of our own members were in attendance which made for a fun, informative day and offered the opportunity for camaraderie between our clubs. The Allegheny members loved it so much that several said they wished their club was in the same zone as our club. A most grateful thank you to all of our gracious and generous SLGC hosts!
