President's Letter February 2020
Mary Bruce Rae-Grant
Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that winter must be lurking around the next cloud as I look out my window with the sun glowing, and the thermometer registered at 50 degrees. It has been lovely to enjoy the mild temperatures with long walks through our parks and neighborhoods. Thoughts of garden pleasures in the spring and summer come to mind. It will be delightful to hear Lee Paulson speak to us about dahlia gardening later this month. He will also bring tubers to share. Think of the gorgeous blooms and colors you can add to your garden.
We will also have a club-wide gardening opportunity later this year. This year is our centennial anniversary of affiliation with the Garden Club of America. Our Centennial Chair, Sarah Dimling, has worked on a community activity to celebrate our ties to the Garden Club of America. Look for more information about this fun activity later this spring.
Meanwhile, Sarah and Diana Stromberg will travel to Washington DC to attend the GCA’s National Affairs and Legislation Conference (NAL) this month. Jane Ellison is a Vice Chair for this important GCA conference. I know we will look forward to hearing and reading about all that Sarah and Diana learn on their trip.
Enjoy each mild sunny day with a stroll outdoors. It might be winter tomorrow.
I will look forward to seeing you soon.
Mary Bruce
