Preparing Our Gardens for Winter: Creating Positive Ecological Impact –
Virtual Symposium

Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm

This virtual symposium is brought to you by the Cleveland Pollinator and Native Plant Symposium, Nature Spark and Western Reserve Land Conservancy. Through this collaboration, they aim to provide attendees with the tools needed to be better stewards of our environment, from backyard gardens to large scale restoration projects.

From WRLC: I'm happy to present an upcoming two-part series that will challenge you to rethink your fall garden clean-up! Preparing Our Gardens for Winter will explain the importance of leaf litter and stem stalks to support life. Don't cut off those stems or bag up all those leaves - instead, create an ecosystem that will thrive throughout our colder months.

On Wednesday, October 26, we welcomed Dr. Kefyn Catley, Professor Emeritus of Biology at Western Carolina University, and co-author of the article Life in the Leaf Litter. And on Wednesday, November 2, Neil Diboll, Prairie Ecologist at Prairie Nursery, will present Meaningful Maintenance – Fall Cleanup with Positive Impact. Both are nationally-renowned scientists and experts, eager to help us break the habit.

This series is a continuation of our winter symposium, Inviting Biodiversity into Our Gardens. The Cleveland Pollinator and Native Plant Symposium, Nature Spark, and Western Reserve Land Conservancy are proud to collaborate and provide you with the tools needed to create beneficial habitats that support native wildlife.

Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm
