Visit to Brotzman’s Nursery
All those who visited Brotzman’s Nursery had a wonderful time with the lovely Witch Hazels in bloom! Thanks to Meg Furey for the photos, and to Robin Schachat for organizing the trip.

Is It Time For Spring Cleanup?
by Suzy Hartford
I am sure I am not the only one who is and WAS itchy to be out and doing in the last weeks when it was warm. There ARE things we can do like cutting back Hydrangea arborescens, the native, and doing pruning of late summer blooming shrubs and Clematis as well as red and yellow twig dogwoods/Cornus service. A better sense of when we can start being more active in the garden comes from knowing where we are in Growing Degree Days (GDD) OSU makes that information with updates here. Easier to remember is not to clean up beds until we have had a string of 50+ degree days.
