Visiting Gardens: A Preliminary Schedule for 2024

The Committee is working on our 2024 plans! If you are interested in any or all of these, we ask that you let chair Robin know, so we have a sense of interest levels before we confirm anything financially.
FEBRUARY 21 Brotzman’s Nursery, Madison, OH. (see http://brotzmansnursey.com for a list of available plants, not just witch hazels featured in the January Newsletter). The witch hazels should be in full bloom for this visit. Attendees will be offered a discount on any plant purchases made that day (bring the BIG car).

APRIL 10 Downtown Walking Tour: “The Archive” Installation art by Rebecca Louise Law at the Cleveland Public Library; the Eastman Reading Garden; the Gardens and Sculptures of Public Square; and “Sky Blossoms”, the Shaker Lakes Garden Club’s Centennial gift to the city of Cleveland. 10:30 – 1pm, followed by optional lunch.
MAY 27 Leach Research Station, Madison OH. (see David G. Leach Research Station » Holden Forests & Gardens (holdenfg.org))
This 30 acre research site, an arm of Holden Forests and Gardens, includes 12 acres of display plantings many of which were planted by Dr. Leach in the mid-20th century as a part of his rhododendron breeding program. Rhododendrons and azaleas will be in full bloom when we visit. Our tour will be led by Director Connor Ryan.

SEPTEMBER Michigan Tour – details to follow. A multi-day driving tour of gardens mostly centered around Detroit, caravan-driven by members of the group. Stay tuned for exciting plans!
