Better Than an Easter Egg Hunt!
Robin Schachat
Let’s Go Gather Materials for Botanical Jewelry!
When: Sunday afternoon, April 16, 1 pm
Rain Date: Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day!), 1 pm
Where: Meet at Robin Schachat’s house, 17400 South Park, Shaker Heights
RSVP: robinschachat@gmail.com; there will be a cutoff of 12 people, although if enough people want to come we might schedule a second session.
Details: First, we’ll meet at Robin’s house to review and discuss common and useful tools for making botanical jewelry, including paints, glues, etc., that are easily available locally.
Then we’ll look at a number of finished pieces made by various SLGC club members, and discuss the dried plant materials that went into their creation.
Finally, the best part: We will go for a walk in the garden and in Horseshoe Lake Park, and, peeling our eyes as we see every natural detail, we will gather potentially useful materials for use in making botanical jewelry! An example “sample card” from a prior show is illustrated here.
Dress in comfortable walking shoes and with a sweater or fleece or whatever feels appropriate, assuming it will get cool as we walk. You may want clippers, too. And bring a box or basket to take home all of your finds!
There is talk of evening wine-and-jewelry-building workshops for our club ladies in the near future! Stay tuned!
