Our season begins this year with a bang and A Fantasy – our GCA flower show! Many of us will be there working in various roles and I hope even if you are not involved on one of the committees, that you will still enter a cut flower or even just visit the show at the Shaker Heights Main Public Library Sept 8-10 and support your friends who have worked tirelessly to create a fun, educational and beautiful flower show. Robin and Martha have worked for more than a year on this show and they, all the committee chairs and involved members deserve a huge THANK YOU for all they’ve done!!
We look forward to celebrating all our hard work at Edwins Too on Sept 8 starting at 5:30 pm. See you there!
Our September 26 members meeting will be our joint meeting with the Garden Club of Cleveland and will take place at South Franklin Circle in Chagrin Falls. Eric Groft, CEO and Director of the world-renowned landscape architecture firm Oehme, van Sweden, will be speaking on Beyond Bold: Inspiration, Collaboration, Evolution. See details in this newsletter. This will be a must-see event. Thanks to Amy Miller for all her efforts to coordinate what will be a fantastic program.
Please plan to read some or all of the excellent GCA publications- The Real Dirt, In Focus, By Design and ConWatch that are available through the GCA eNews (which you should all be getting directly to your email monthly) and are also on the GCA website and on our SLGC home page, shakerlakesgc.org. Super informative, interesting, educational and entertaining- you will definitely find them engaging. Hope you’ll read an article I wrote in the fall issue of The Real Dirt on daylily and dahlia blooms. Let me know what you think.
See you soon at the flower show and our joint meeting!
