Dear Friends,
If there is one constancy in NE Ohio in spring, it has to be the unpredictability of the weather! So little snow this past winter, but so far, a long, cool spring, which is just fine by me! It’s the end of March and I’m spending more time outside cleaning perennial beds and preparing for the gardening season. Although, with indoor plants, does gardening season ever really end? As more and more plants peek up through the ground, our club’s activities are taking off, too!
Note especially the following:
April and May’s programs will be great fun with our May 30th gathering at Edwins Restaurant in the evening.
April is National Native Plant Month- many state’s governors have issued proclamations declaring this important initiative. The GCA will be using this opportunity to bring more awareness to the importance of planting native plants. Which native plants will you be planting in your yard this year?
Please consider volunteering at the GCA annual meeting in Columbus, May 21-24. You can sign up here- https://www.gcamerica.org/members/natl-org-zone10#resourceid=8413. To date, only 7 SLGC members are volunteering and the coordinators are asking each club in our Zone to recruit at least 15 from each club. We really need YOU!
Flower show excitement continues! It’s not until early Sept, but there are many ways for you to be involved. Why not enter botanical arts? I’m going to and I’ve never entered. You’ll have nothing to lose and so much to gain. It’ll be fun and you’ll learn something!
If you haven’t attended a membership meeting in a while, why not plan to join your friends this spring? We’ve missed you!
Have a joyful Easter, Passover and Spring!
