End of Summer Vacation for Your Plants
Ann Cicarella
Are you a houseplant enthusiast who has given your plants a happy, healthy summer vacation?
Maybe you even acquired more plants at the beginning of the summer, but now find that you just can’t bear to part with them. Yes, now is the time we need to be making the decisions about who stays or who goes. Marianne Willburn, a passionate plantsperson and communicator, has a very witty and informative book called “Tropical Plants and How to Love Them.” She categorizes the plants in terms of four relationship types: the Summer Romance, the Long-Term Commitment, the Best Friend and the High-Maintenance Partner. This book was the winner of the GardenComm 2022 Media Awards Silver Award of Achievement in the Publisher/Book General Readership Category.
Usually by March, my plants are starting to look slightly frazzled, gasping for fresh air, rain and real sunshine. To the rescue comes “Houseplant Warrior: 7 Keys to Unlocking the Mysteries of Houseplant Care” by Cleveland local, Raffaele Di Lallo. With interest in houseplants at an all-time high, we could all use some good tips to keep our plants healthy until their next summer vacation rolls around.
