Another Year… Another Chance to Make Someone Happy!!!

The SLGC Charitable Projects recipients are many and varied, and always most appreciative! We do make a difference. Please give generously when your solicitation letter arrives in October.
The below from one of the recipients last spring:
Shaker Lakes Garden Club,
School started at East Clark Elementary School on Monday, August 22nd. East Clark Bird Nerds had the first meeting of the year on Tuesday, August 23rd. All students in grades 5-8 were/are invited to attend the weekly Tuesday meetings which run from 2:10 – 3:00. All that is required is a signed note from a parent and signatures from teachers that students are worthy to be in the club.
Over the summer there were several trips taken. We went to places like Sandy Ridge, Lorain Impound, CVNP, Wendy Park, Mentor Headlands, Mentor Lagoons, Nimisila Reservoir, a friend’s farm in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Pymatuning Lake (among others).
Because we have some AWESOME raincoats, we never have to worry about cancelling a trip if there is rain forecast! Never!!!
Two on The Bird Nerds who remain in the group even though they are in high school earned scholarships to attend The ABA (American Birding Association) Youth Bird Camp at Delaware Bay in August for a week. I sent them with the raincoats, and they really came in handy on one day.
Having the raincoats is like having an excellent insurance policy! We know we can go, and no matter the weather, we will be able to hike and bird! What a luxury! We are headed to just south of Detroit this Sunday to see some hawks migrating! We are going no matter what!!! We can do that!!! This is because of your organization’s generosity!
Thank you All!
