A Big Thank You to Mary Bruce!

At our Annual Meeting the incoming President traditionally gives the outgoing President a special gift - in person, something we can’t do this year. But Mary Bruce came to my house for one more “this is what you need to know and do” lesson, and I presented her with a gift. Here she is, unmasked in my back yard, holding a silver frame engraved with her name and President, Shaker Lakes Garden Club 2018-2020, with a photo Beth Boles provided of one of the Shaker Lakes. She will also receive, in September when it’s time to plant, daffodil bulbs from White Flower Farm. (I learned that if you order through the marketplace portal on the GCA website WFF will donate 15% of the total to the GCA Education and Outreach Fund.) She was delighted with both - and she said her Newburyport garden has only three daffodils, so it won’t be hard to find a place for them. Here’s a list of what she’ll get - you can look them up on the GCA marketplace website and start thinking about next spring: 12 each of Narcissus Poeticus var. recurvus, Narcissus Lemon Sailboat, Narcissus Lucky Number, Narcissus Sunlight Sensation and 25 (they’re miniature) Narcissus Minnow.
