Charitable Projects Annual Report

The final distribution of the 2018-2019 Charitable Projects Fund of $13,435 supported 12 northeast Ohio projects, highlighting numerous club interests: beekeeping, community beautification, food gardening education, reduction of invasive species, to name a few.
Recipients were:
Our largest grant to Stonebrook Montessori School –Environmental education
Boys and Girls Clubs – Young Beekeepers Program
Cleveland Metroparks – Bee and Native Plant Garden
Doan Brook/Friends of the Lower Lakes – Removing invasives; restoring native plants
Dunham Tavern Museum – Summer Camp: Greenspace Knowledge and Healthy Eating
Hopewell – Therapeutic Gardening
Metro Catholic School – Experiential Learning garden/Healthy Eating Club
Moreland on the Move – Community connection through beautification
Morgan Conservatory – New beds for growing paper-making plants
Nature Center at Shaker Lakes – Demonstration gardens at restored trail
Ruffing Montessori School – Outdoor learning environment and production garden
Urban Community School – Student-developed Ohio prairie ecosystem
Our committee found it gratifying to learn of the inspiring efforts, across the entire area, to recognize the joy and power of life amid growing greenery.
In addition, $1,375 was forwarded to the CGA for support of the Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarship.
Our committee: Anne Ginn, Kate Stenson, Cheri Pace, Nancy Zambie, Sarah Dimling, Mary Bruce Rae-Grant, Cynthia Druckenbrod, Anne Higerd, Helen Schreiber, and Suzanne Taigen gave careful consideration to the merits of each proposal, choosing to offer encouragement and a portion of requested funds to these 12 organizations from the 22 who applied for funding.
