Begonia Propagation Next Steps

Jennifer Hartford

My begonias are starting to form little plants. There isn’t any information on the handout about what to do when the new plants begin forming.  Below is some information from The American Begonia Society and a link to the website. I have been removing the plastic from time to time to give the cuttings some air. Sometimes there is too much moisture inside the bag, and I am worried the plants might get moldy.

As soon as little plantlets have come up and are large enough to handle, they can be potted up individually into small pots. New plantlets will form at the leaf cutting and wedge cutting. For the first transplant they should remain in a covered container. Treat them as you would seedlings of the same size. Once they have filled the small pot and are ready to transplant again, you can harden them off and move to other locations.
