Dear Friends,
With the sudden very cold temps in late November, our gardens are definitely in sleep mode! Although, if you’re like me, you still have a few bulbs to plant- yikes! The last few years I have left many of my perennials standing through the winter to feed wildlife and provide refuge for overwintering insects. I hope you’re doing the same.
Here are a few items of note:
There will be no board meeting on Dec 6 since we met in late November.
Please plan on attending the Greens Workshop on Thursday, Dec 8, and arriving at 10 am. There will be gorgeous greens available that you won’t see elsewhere!
Congratulations to our provisionals and the beautiful tree they created at the Cleveland Botanical Garden!
We will be meeting in person on Jan 24 at Hallie Stewart’s home to discuss houseplants in distress and what to do about it! This is your chance to get out of the house in January and join your garden club friends.
I love the GCA annual meeting scarf and you can purchase one here. As you know, it’s a fundraiser for the upcoming meeting in May, 2023, in Columbus. Animals and plants from Ohio, Indiana and Michigan adorn the scarf. Hard to choose a favorite, but I really love the bat, salamanders, lightning bugs and the trillium on the scarf!
Please be generous this season for our charitable projects. The money we give to NE Ohio groups that are doing important projects that make a difference in people’s lives really does matter. Thank you for keeping Shaker Lakes Garden Club relevant!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your families!
