The Real Dirt, the horticulture magazine from the GCA, has just published its latest issue. You can also find a link to it on our home page.
Among the many great articles is a new propagation challenge that focuses on plants grown at Frederick Law Olmsted’s garden in Massachusetts. I highly recommend participating this year! Perhaps the easiest way to do this challenge would be to grow Asclepias tuberosa (Butterfly weed) or any Monarda (Bee balm or Bergamot) cultivar from seed. I like Select Seeds company, but these two types of plants can be found just about anywhere. Deadline for a photographic entry is July 15, so you have some time to find seeds and sow them in the early spring! Good luck!
Also of note in this issue of The Real Dirt is an article on awesome new gardening tools to give and get this year. I especially like the pink garden knife from AM Leonard and the Back Door Garden Shoes from Amazon. Check them out!
