Cathy Miller’s adorable decorated/embellished sunglasses won Best in Show at a GCA Major Show, Petal to the Metal, in Milwaukee, October 1. Congratulations, Cathy!
Safe Spray for Your Plants
A lovely salesperson from Bremec Garden Centers supplied the following insect treatment that is safe for all plants and pets:
1 cup Listerine (brown, any brand)
1 cup Ammonia
1 cup Epsom Salts
1 T unscented dish soap
Apply in the morning, never in full sun. Apply every couple of weeks, as needed.
Save the Date
This program is going to be a slam-bam wonder, presented by the Floral Design Committee of the Womens Council of the Cleveland Museum of Art (WCCMA). Our own Isa Ranganathan and Sally Roman are the chair and vice chair of the Committee, and of course our own Rebecca Carmi is President of the Womens Council overall.
A core of additional SLGC members are serving on the Event Committee (Jennifer Langston, Margaret Ransohoff). Joseph Massie's lecture and demonstration will be open to the public. Massie was featured in the GCA Bulletin earlier this year. He has won a gold medal for his floral designs each of the past 5 years at the Chelsea Flower Show, despite being very young -- only in his 20's -- and he is an engaging and delightful speaker. Tickets available here.
A Wonderful Presentation
Thanks to Betsy Stueber, who introduced us to her friend George T.M. Shackelford, whose talk on Monet’s Garden & Giverny at the October luncheon was a delight for us all!
