President's Letter June 2018
Sarah Dimling
Dear Friends,
It’s hard to believe this is my last President’s Letter. I vividly remember writing my first letter nearly two years ago while on vacation at my family’s summer home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Our internet wasn’t working and therefore literally sat on the dock with iPad in hand at the DeTour State Harbor, composing my letter and “borrowing” the marina’s internet to forward the letter to Dozie Herbruck for inclusion in the newsletter. I recall feeling a bit apprehensive (“a bit” is a huge understatement) about taking over the helm of this wonderful club. It seems only fitting that I’m headed back to the family cottage immediately following our Annual Meeting on June 26th. However, this trip will be vastly different. Rather than pondering how on earth I could possibly fill the shoes of so many wonderful past presidents, I will fondly reflect on how much I’ve learned and what a privilege it has been to serve as your president.
Our club is comprised of an amazing array of talented, hard-working and dedicated members. We are a synergistic group, our whole is indeed greater than the sum of the parts. Our recent Flower Show was an excellent example of how we work brilliantly together and achieve great things.
Many thanks to each of you for your tremendous help, advice and support over the last two years. Mary Bruce Rae-Grant will hit the ground running and will undoubtedly be a wonderful president. Please join me in wishing her the very best in her new role.
Sarah
