Lead the Way
Carol Provan and Sandy Holmes
To fulfill the stated commitment of SLGC to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, members since 1966 have voluntarily contributed to a philanthropic fund, and more than $262,000 has been distributed. Applicant organizations have created opportunities for citizens in this area to enjoy and learn about the green world around us.
As SLGC members, we have the opportunity to encourage groups to apply for funding within this field of interest. Small organizations can find start-up or expansion support and more established ones can look for new and innovative ways to promote gardening, education and/or conservation.
The application process is simple and explained on the public area of our website. The important step now - in advance of the February 15 application deadline – is to reach out to the community and inform or remind organizations to apply.
That is the crucial role for SLGC members: help bring forward new ideas for the committee to guide through the application step. Bring organizations where you are involved to the committee’s attention.
The success of the club’s philanthropy depends upon reaching out to encourage new groups and project ideas. In fact, we are seeking a wider range of applicants who represent our diverse geographic area. The committee wants your ideas.
Please email us your suggestions: our committee will take it from there.
