Leslie Marting
Jane Ellison was awarded the Garden Club of America Zone Conservation Award on June 14, 2017. Jane is soft spoken and she carries two big sticks, intellect and passion. Jane served as Conservation and NAL Zone Rep. A colleague attended the NAL meeting and said, “In leading Ohio, Michigan and Indiana delegates at the NAL in Washington, D.C., Jane impressed her fellow Zone X members with her independent spirit, intellectual curiosity, thoughtful assessments, and seemingly limitless positive energy. Keenly attuned to Ohio’s conservation concerns, Jane’s knowledge and expertise got the senators’ apt attention during the NAL meetings as she was determined to get the best possible outcomes for Ohio.”
Jane is a Master Gardener, a Certified Naturalist, past President of the Shaker Lakes Nature Center, and the chairman of a conservation study trip, for Zone X and for the National Conservation Committee. Jane’s intellect, energy, accomplishments and willingness to stand up for the environmental issues she so passionately believes in make her an outstanding and exceedingly deserving candidate for this award. The citation reads, "For sharing her tireless passion, dedicated commitment and vast knowledge in every aspect for environmental awareness and education."
