Charitable Projects Spring 2018
Anne Ginn and Kate Stenson
Thank you to all members who contributed this past year. We raised $12,840.51. The committee decided to distribute $12,500.
The two projects the Club voted on:
The Onaway /Lomond Community Garden
The Western Reserve Conservancy Tree Project
While the vote was close, The Onaway /Lomond Community Garden was the clear winner. They will receive $5,000 to fund the second phase of their community gardens, supported by the Shaker Heights elementary schools, on whose property the gardens are located. Both schools have a student garden club, spearheaded by a teacher.
The rest of the money was distributed to the following organizations.
Western Reserve Conservancy Tree Project: $3,500
Conservancy of Cuyahoga Valley National Park “All Rivers Run," camp scholarships: $2,000
Cleveland Institute of Art Green Roof Project: $2,500
The other organizations submitting grant request proposals were:
Cleveland Museum of Natural History
LAND Studio
The Two Café and Boutique
Ingenuity Cleveland and Rust Belt Riders
Cleveland Public Library Foundation
Hathaway Brown School
